Academic Programs

The Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degree is an interdisciplinary degree that allows students to design a curriculum that meets individual goals by connecting the Texas core curriculum, 3 academic minors, one General Studies capstone course, and appropriate supporting courses. During the senior year, BGS majors will complete a capstone course (UNIV 4301) in which the student will complete a project that requires the integration of knowledge and ideas from the three areas of study.

Requirements to Apply

  • Students must be a junior or senior in good standing with at least a 2.0 overall GPA to declare a BGS major.
  • Prior to declaration, students must attend an information session with an academic advisor.
  • Students must be a BGS major and have a minimum 2.0 overall GPA to register for UNIV 4301

Available Minors

A list of all available minors for the Bacholor of General Studies degree can be found here, and a list of available on-line minors can be found here. Certain minor combinations may not be allowed if coursework is duplicative. Please consult with the BGS coordinator to insure that the proposed combination of minors is appropriate.
